Critical Setup Required

To ensure AIMEY understands your conversion goals correctly, you need to align your conversion setup with AIMEY funnel recommendations. Every conversion pixel should be assigned to a correct conversion goal.

Purchase

Assign your sales conversion here

Begin Checkout

(Secondary conversion)

Set up on a page where the user starts the checkout process (e.g., after going to cart and clicking 'proceed to checkout')

Add to Basket

(Secondary conversion)

Set up on a click on 'add to cart' button OR when a user arrives into a shopping cart (shopping cart pageload)

Pageview

(Secondary conversion)

Set up on every product page. We will only use this in the beginning to get the system trained faster

Implementation Steps

In your Google Ads account, click the Goals icon

Click the Conversions drop-down in the section menu

Click Summary

Hover over the conversion action you want to change

Click on the 3-dot icon and select Change to another conversion goal

In the drop-down menu that appears, click the conversion goal you want to change to

Review your changes in the slider panel

Click Review campaigns to see impact (recommended)

Click Back

Click Save to accept the changes

If you don't have any of these conversions in place, you can consider creating them if this makes sense for your business. The hard requirement is to have a Submit lead form in place. For other conversion categories, it is a soft recommendation.

Having more conversions can help better train AI algorithms to bring the right users. But in the long run, we want AI to optimize only for the most important event, so we will be removing secondary conversions from the optimization focus.
